To go to the full page, which has much more information, click the large sliding image (it might take a moment), or you can choose from the drop down menu under PAINTING.

The Timeline can also bring you to the full pages by clicking the Title (if it has a full page…most do).

Personal Note: As a sculptor I have always been timid around color–if it came naturally from the material, it was OK with me. It’s only lately that I am actually trying to paint.

There is one exception–no two. Sometime in the mid 80’s I tried to grow painting via molding coffee grounds. See Mold Paintings.

The second was even earlier. I built my first installation using live animals for my Cranbrook thesis show. It was a large glass panel hanging from the ceiling. I allowed thinned-down paint to flow on glass creating the polar view of the world. This piece still exists today in John Kremers office in the California building. See Large Glass piece.

In 2018 I decided to try to actually make paintings. The Truth Series is my first series attempt at painting. As you can see, they seemed to be more informed by sculpture and natural processes than actually painting with brushes. Old habits die hard.
