Personal note: I had, still have, a book that I loved to peruse to get ideas for this Mechanics series. It’s title is Mechanical Movements Devices and Appliances by Gardner D. Hiscox, M. E.
The book is old, published in 1903.
It has one drawing of a flying machine with this caption: “One of the many forms of experiments in aerial navigation. The most that has yet been done in the line of human flight is to glide from a hill top or cliff and alight with possible safety.”
It is my most cherished book.
