These paintings were made by allowing coffee ground soaked in water to grow mold within a controlled environment.
I built a large cabinet (4′ x 6′) with four horizontal draws about 2 inches deep. It looked much like a flat file.
I lined the draws with polyvinyl plastic to keep them from leaking and then wrapped the whole cabinet again to make is a sealed environment.
It took about a month to get the results you see here. I put the cabinet in the hallway of my studio so I would not have to be breathing the results of this unknown experiment.
After the first experiment my studio neighbors ask me not to do another one. The order was not being confined to the cabinet.
None of these painting survived, just the photographs.
